Quick Start Guide
Get up and running with Karma One in five minutes. This guide walks you through account creation, your first conversation, and the features that make Karma One more than a chatbot.
Step 1: Create Your Account
- Download Karma One from the App Store (iOS), Google Play (Android), or visit the web app.
- Tap Sign Up and choose your registration method:
- Email address
- Apple ID
- Google account
- Verify your email if you chose email registration.
- Set your display name and preferred language (English or Chinese).
Tip: Your account syncs across all platforms automatically. Sign up on your phone and your conversations will be waiting on the web too.
Step 2: Start Your First Conversation
- Tap the + button on the home screen to create a new conversation.
- Type a message in the input bar at the bottom. Try something like:
Help me plan a weekend trip to Kyoto. I want to visit temples, try local food, and keep the budget under $1000.
- Press Send (or tap the arrow icon).
- The AI responds in real-time with streaming text.
Choosing a Model
By default, Karma One selects an appropriate model for your request. To choose manually:
- Tap the model selector at the top of the conversation (shows the current model name).
- Browse the available models with their descriptions.
- Select one. Your choice applies to this conversation going forward.

Step 3: Try Voice Input
Karma One supports voice input with automatic transcription in multiple languages.
- Tap the microphone icon in the input bar.
- Grant microphone permission if prompted.
- Speak your message naturally.
- The audio is transcribed to text automatically.
- Review the transcription and tap Send.
Tip: Voice input works in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and many other languages. The transcription engine detects the language automatically.
Step 4: Upload an Image for AI Analysis
Test the multimodal capabilities by having AI analyze an image:
- Tap the + button (or the image icon) in the input bar.
- Choose Photo Library or Take Photo.
- Select an image. It appears as a thumbnail in the input area.
- Add a question about the image:
What is in this image? Describe everything you see in detail.
- Send the message. The AI analyzes the image and responds with a description.
What You Can Do with Images
- Document extraction: Upload a photo of a receipt, menu, or handwritten notes
- Code debugging: Screenshot an error message and ask for help
- Design feedback: Share a UI mockup and ask for improvement suggestions
- Translation: Photograph text in any language and ask for a translation
- Math solving: Take a photo of a math problem
Step 5: Create Your First Avatar
Avatars are the core of Karma One. Each avatar is a specialized AI persona with its own memory and personality.
- Open the sidebar (swipe right or tap the menu icon).
- Tap My Avatars.
- Tap Create New Avatar.
- Fill in the basics:
- Name: Give your avatar a descriptive name (e.g., "English Tutor")
- Avatar image: Choose an icon or upload a custom image
- Persona prompt: Describe who this avatar is and how it should behave
Here is an example persona prompt:
You are an experienced English language tutor specializing in business English. You are patient, encouraging, and always explain grammar rules with clear examples. When the user makes a mistake, gently correct them and explain why. Keep track of recurring errors and revisit them periodically. Adjust difficulty based on the user's progress.
- Select a base model (Claude Sonnet 4 is a good default).
- Tap Save.
- Start a conversation with your new avatar from the avatar list.
Tip: You do not need to write a perfect persona prompt on the first try. You can always edit it later as you refine what you need.
Step 6: Connect Telegram for Notifications
Karma One can push messages, task results, and morning briefings to your Telegram account.
- Open Settings from the sidebar.
- Navigate to Connections (or Channel Management).
- Find the Karma Telegram Bot card at the top.
- Tap Connect.
- You will receive a deeplink. Tap it to open Telegram.
- In Telegram, press Start to complete the binding.
- You are now connected. Try asking your avatar to set a reminder:
Remind me to review my quarterly report tomorrow at 9am.
The reminder will be delivered to your Telegram at the scheduled time.

Troubleshooting First-Run Issues
"I cannot see all 7 models"
Free accounts have access to 3 models. Upgrade to Starter or Pro to unlock all 7. See Subscription Plans.
"Voice input is not working"
Make sure you have granted microphone permission to the Karma One app. On iOS, check Settings > Karma One > Microphone. On Android, check Settings > Apps > Karma One > Permissions.
"My conversation disappeared"
Conversations sync across devices. If you are on a new device, give it a moment to sync. If the issue persists, check that you are logged into the same account.
"The AI response is slow"
Response speed depends on the model and current load. Gemini 2.5 Flash is the fastest option. If you are on a slower network, text responses will still stream progressively.
